"Tameness is a loop animation. This work is based on my childhood experience. Growing up in China, I remember when I was a kid, the very first thing they taught me in school is the gesture I showed in this video. Now put your hands behind you, and don't move. As if there is an invisible rope to tie up your hands. They call this class manner. I don't know if children today are still trained in this way, but as an artist, now I can obviously catch the hidden meaning underneath this symbolic gesture. It is training for youth to follow the authority, first effects on body, and then goes to mind. I believe in this single gesture, the secret of contemporary China history has been revealed, and more than that, it even prophets the future of the country, as the infinite loop of this animation itself, there is neither end nor hope for this inescapable stillness of the history."
