Biography
"In life as in Art we create. The empty part of our future in life parallels the empty space an artist is confronted with each time she starts a new work. In both, we go forward with a creative frame of mind as we are faced with what is to come, and go through the process by entering the unknown. Inspired by my personal experience and history of migration, mobility and displacement, my work has always related to the exploration of identity and our personal journey of self-discovery. By repurposing mass produced materials commonly associated with women such as bobby pins as well as strands of hair, and using them like needles and threads, I stitch intricate designs and patterns that often bring to mind embroideries and weavings. Each day, each work, Stitch by Stitch my life becomes my art, and my art becomes my life."
