Biography

"파올라 피비의 예술적인 작업은 다양하고 수수께끼 같다. 그녀는 낯섦과 익숙함을 혼재시키며, 주변에서 볼 수 있는 익숙한 물체들에 새로운 규모나 물질 또는 색을 적용하여 변형시킴으로써 관객으로 하여금 관점을 바꾸도록 한다. 피비는 ‘진주’ 연작에서 초현실적인 캔버스를 구성하고 그 위에 플라스틱 또는 실제 진주 가닥이 흐드러지도록 한다. 주로 핑크, 파랑, 형광 노랑, 달걀 껍데기처럼 하얗고 밝은색들을 사용하면서 벽으로부터 쏟아져 나오는 폭포처럼 보이기도 한다. 작가는 조각, 비디오, 사진, 공연 및 설치 작업을 통해 이전에 불가능해 보였던 것을 가능하게 하기 위해 인식의 한계를 벗어난다."
